Ben Nye Fair and Luxury Banana Powder

So when i attended IMATS London 2014, i picked up two of the Ben Nye powders i have been wanting to try for the longest time. I managed to pick up the face powder in Fair and the hyped up Luxury Banana Powder. Ben Nye powders are quite difficult to get hold of in the UK without paying ridiculous shipping costs, I have found Amazon and Guru Makeup Emporium are the most simple way to get your mits on this, but be willing to pay higher shipping costs.

'Ben Nye was a renowned makeup artist for the Hollywood film industry extending over four decades from the 1930s to the early 1980s. He worked for such films as Gone with the Wind (1939), Miracle on 34th Street (1947), Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), The King and I (1956), The Fly (1958), Valley of the Dolls (1967), and Planet of the Apes (1968). As he retired he created the Ben Nye Makeup Company and even to date today his son Dana Nye-CEO continues his distinguished reputation of makeup artistry and the cosmetic line.'

Although Ben Nye Makeup is well known for the supply of TV and theatrical makeup, it has recently been becoming alot more popular within the everyday makeup routines of us normal beauty addicts. The secrets of this product are now being shown on various beauty blog tutorials; i first spotted this product being used by the fabulous Wayne Goss showing us how to recreate Kim K's under eye highlight and he instantly sold me on the product.

Ben Nye Classic Translucent Powders (Fair): are very silky translucent shades that provide a matte finish to the skin whilst giving off a hint of subtle colour; great for when you dont want that 'white like grandma powder finish'. The special formula controls perspiration so it is great for humidity, hot climates as well as performers, clowns etc.

Ben Nye Luxury Banana Powder: These are ultra neutral powders which provide a matte yet subtle finish. These are micro milled loose powders and so silky to the touch; these powders blend effortlessly and help to fill in all the fine lines and pores in the skin.

So what did i think? i was really surprised at how good these powders are at mattifying the skin and holding the makeup in place all day. The Fair face powder looks fantastic for that all over flawless finish, and with working 12 hour shifts, it is a life saver for us oily guys and gals. This face powder really helps fill in all fine lines and pores without clogging them and gives me the confidence my makeup is not going to budge; if your a dance, performer etc...give this a try! However, the banana powder was a hit or miss product for me. I think this powder will look beautiful when i'm all tanned and glowy but whilst i'm pale it does not flatter my skin at all. I find it really hard to blend into my skin as it leaves a really noticeable yellow residue, not flattering at all. Just a little tip for my pale sisters out there.
