Would You Rather? | Beauty Edition!

I am suffering with a severe form of writers block right now. I have so many planned posts to write but every time i sit down at my computer, every word disappears out of my head. Hopefully a fun and light hearted beauty blogger tag will relieve some of the stress and get me back into my flow.

1. Would you rather loose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks and lip glosses or loose all of your palettes and eye shadows?

100% I would rather loose all of my palettes and eye shadows. Only reason being without mascara i resemble somewhat of a bald eagle, and who wants to look like a bald eagle on a daily basis?

2. Would you rather chop all of your hair off or never be able to cut it again?

I would never chop my hair again. I am such a baby when it comes to my hair, i get really anxious when i get it trimmed even though my sister in law is a hairdresser and is more than capable. My hair is like my little comfort blanket, it would be staying.

3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

I think i would rather have a pink cheek. I tend to stick to darker pink blushes on a daily basis and slightly shimmery pinks when im feeling a little more glam bam. I never tend to reach for a coral.

4. If you have £1000 to spend would your rather spend it on clothes or makeup?

MAKEUP! £1000 is alot of money to spend on makeup so i would be indulging in my guilty pleasures i cannot justify buying. Hello chanel!

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner or eyeliner as lipstick?

Hmmm, that is a tough one. I think it would have to be eye liner as lipstick because a glossy or creamy lipstick would not be comfortable to wear on the eyes. I dont even want to picture that haha!

6. Would you rather only shop at mac or sephora?

We dont have sephora in the UK, sadly! So i would say mac. But sephora, if your reading this, i would really appreciate a store in the uk to spend my hard earned money on ;)

7. Would you rather use only one eye shadow colour or one lipstick colour for the rest of your life?

That is tricky. But i think i would have to say wear the same eye shadow for the rest of my life, purely because i love rocking a red lip in the winter and bright pinks and corals in summer. I am a huge fan of a statement lip.

8. Would you rather wear summer clothes in winter or winter clothes in summer?

Winter clothes in summer. I am not a good person to be around when i am cold. My boyfriend always laughs at me because i constantly complain about being cold regardless of how warm it is. In my defence, i do live in england.

9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

I sat and thought about this question for far too long. I love dark nails in the winter, i always feel they give you that sexy vampy feel. But bright nail polish in the spring and summer makes me so happy and there are sooo many colours to choose from. I am going to go for bright but i do really love dark nail polish.

10. Would you rather give up your favourite lip product or favourite eye product?

I would give up my favourite lip product because i love my mascara and eye liners. I do not feel complete if i haven't got lashing of mascara gracing my lashes.

11. Would you rather be only to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

I would prefer to wear my hair in a messy bun. Just because you can tweak it a little more and play around with cool styles. Being a student nurse i spend the majority of my life wearing my hair in a bun so i have became very used to it.

12. Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never wear lip gloss?

I would rather never wear lip gloss. I hardly wear lip gloss as i find it fiddly and annoying. Plus I am a huge nail art addict.

13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows off and have none at all or have to sharpie them in everyday?

I think i would rather sharpie them in everyday. I could rock a scouse brow like i intended to make them look like that.

14. Would you rather live without nail polish or makeup?

Is that even a question. MAKEUP. False nails dont count as nail polish right?

MAC Objects of Affection | Mini Pigment Sets

For those of you have been reading my blog for a while now will know i have a huge love for my mac palettes; they are very much my babies... so how have i been a lover dover of mac for so long and not yet tried their pigments? After my 1am finish from my A&E placement, i found myself wide awake and scrolling through the interwebs only to come across the Mac Holiday 2014 Collections. I am 100% one of those people who has far too much makeup that it would be impossible to use it all; so when mac release the mini holiday collections i feel slightly less guilty as there is a considerable amount of product instead of enough pigment to share with the whole blogger world.

The MAC Objects of Affecton Pigment Set is available in four limited edition colour collections for £26 each. The pigments in these sets contain 0.09 oz of pigment and 0.14 oz in the glitter vial, which is a nice amount of product and with normal pigments priced at £17, how could i not?

I have found the vials to be kind of fiddly to use as they tend to be a little messy compared to the larger sizes as they are easier to dip my brush in and keep upright when in use. However, the pigments in these holiday collections are super pigmented, lusts of shimmer and sparkle, very long lasting and super easy to blend.

I got the Gold/Beige Collection & the Rose Gold Collection. I fell instantly in love with these as soon as they landed on my doorstep. The colours all work so well together and would be perfect for the holiday seasons, but could also be used for a subtle hint of glamour during the daytime. These two sets have very warm undertones so if you like warmer eye shades i would 100% recommend this. It contains some gorgeous shades of gold, brown and taupe as well as a beautiful everyday champagne colour. I found the glitters very hard to swatch as they need a cream base in order to adhere nicely to the skin.

My favourite shade in the Gold/Beige collection is Lithe, It is such a stunning reflex nude shade.Lithe blends so beautifully into the lids and feels so silky to apply. Deep brown is another staple shade in the collection for me. It is the only matte shade in both of the sets  purchased. It is a very finely milled pigment that applies easily to the lids and instantly smokes out any of the pigments and gives a dramatic feel.

These collections live in a plastic glitter sparkly box with a vintage esq cameo on top. The case feels very good quality and really gives the pigments that holiday feel, it would make a perfect gift. I will be keeping this pot to store in my bits and bobs once i am done with my pigments.

Overall, i was super pleased with the MAC Objects of Affection Pigment Sets. They will make perfect gifts for the girly girl in your life over the holidays and regardless of weather you like a subtle touch of glamour or a dramatic smokey eye, these will work for you.

It's Like Heroine

Anyone who know's me will be very aware of my lipstick love. During the autumn/winter months statement lipsticks are a staple in my makeup bag, i love how they completely change a makeup look and i feel i look instantly more polished and put together when my lips have been splashed with colour.

Iv'e had my eyes on Mac Heroine lipstick for a couple of months now and a few days back, i finally bit the bullet and purchased. How have i lived without this lipstick in my collection?
It is a matte formula so bang on trend for autumn/winter, has great longevity and looks absolutely stunning on the lips. I have found i need to prep my lips well before i wear this otherwise it can make the lips appear dry, so i have been accompanied with Lush Lip Scrub and My Balmi latley.

I put off buying this lipstick for a while because although i love the purple lip trend, i was worried this would be a little too purple to wear on an everyday basis. I was wrong. Very wrong. My skin is a little paler at the minute and i love how there is such a contrast between my skin & lipstick shade.

 -Great longevity
-Amazing Pigmentation
-Looks great with any skin tone
-Defiantly a unique statement shade
-Fades to an even shade

-Can be quite drying
-Lips require quite a bit of prep prior to application
-It can smudge quite easily if applied heavily

Instagram Diary

I have had such a lovely summer this year. Although, i have not been away this summer i have spent alot of time catching up with old friends, time with the boyfriend, family time and i discovered a love for blogging. I am just preparing myself for the mayhem that is the return to uni come Monday (although, secretly i am really excited to get back to it).
- So i have spent a ridiculous amount of hours hitting the shops this summer, it has became a little out of hand. Endless days in town, and uncountable visits to the Trafford Centre with my best friend. It also came to my attention i am some what off an enabler. Toni has now became a Mac addict and she 100% blames me for it. Sorry chicken!

- I spent hours looking through our old family photos with my mum a couple of nights ago. I spent the night umm'ing and ahh'ing over some cringeworthy shots and it got me thinking about how much can change in such a small space of time. I had a fantastic childhood and i really enjoyed reminiscing all the memories with the special lady who helped me to create them. Can we just take a moment to appreciate the sleeping in Men In Black shades?

- I have really enjoyed spending this time off with my little sister. We have become alot closer (if that is possible) over the summer and it is really nice to watch her blossom into a young lady. Although, it does make me feel really old. This snap was taken on the train into town, yet another sister bonding session at the cash register.

- I have always been a bit of a lover for Starbucks and i did miss my morning coffee run on the way into lectures in the morning. So, in order to help my homesickness a Starbucks date was on the cards. I tucked into a triple cheese toasted sandwich and a caramel creme and felt no guilt at all. It was too delicious.

- It really breaks my heart hearing young girls and boys so worried about their weight. I have witnessed children as young as seven & eight claim they are on diets and worrying people will think they are 'fat'. It is not just children & teenagers, even us adults are constantly obsessed about weight and the number on the scales. I have seen first hand how this affects families and it truly is heartbreaking. I saw this picture on instagram and i just had to repost.

- I have been pondering over two lipsticks from Mac for a while now. Heroine & Velvet Teddy. After alot of staring at swatches on instagram and reviews on blog's i caved and made a trip to Mac to purchase. Unfortunately, due to high demand Velvet Teddy is sold out everywhere but i did manage to finally get my hands on Heroine. It is the perfect statement purple look and it will most defiantly be gracing my lips throughout the approaching colder months.

- Over my past few weeks off i have been spending alot of cuddly time with my puppy, Ozzy. He is almost two now and cuter than ever. He has just learnt how to give his paw for a treat and he is in process of roll over. We have been on endless walks and had none stop playtime.

- Unfortunately i have spent some time in the hospital this summer with a very poorly family member. He is three years of age and currently undergoing a very long, gruelling and painful treatment process. He is my warrior and so brave. His little smile can melt my heart. You can check it out more here (link)

- I have been in a bit of a style dilemma recently. My fashion style seems to be changing and i am discovering so many new trends and styles i am enjoying trying out. I purchased this bowler hat from Primark and i have not stopped wearing it. I love how when paired with a dark lip and a subtle smokey eye it gives the perfect grunge look to any outfit.

What have you guy's gotten up to over the past few weeks? Let me know!

Product Review: Rimmel Brow This Way

I dont know about you, but i am a huge brow addict. I love anything brows; they can instantly change your whole face. Now, when it comes to full beautiful brows, i was not blessed with the best brows ever. They are not as full as i would like them to be so eye brow tints and powders are my best friends. Whilst shopping with my sister a few days ago she mentioned she had her eye on the new release from Rimmel. Brow This Way, Brow Styling Gel. I am not usually a huge Rimmel fan but whilst there was an offer on, i bit the bullet and purchased.

And thank you Rimmel.

This product tints the hairs beautifully, helps to keep the brow hairs in place all day and even helps brow products last all day. I can sometimes find filling in brows to look unnatural as the hairs can appear powdery or waxy but this really helps to define the hairs and helps to give a really natural appearance.

This brow gel comes in four shades, Blonde, Mid Brown, Dark Brown and a Clear shade. I have the shade dark brown which is perfect for me as i like my brows to be quite dark. Although there is only four shades in the range i  think there is a shade for everyone, even if you have super light hair or super dark hair, i think these shades will be perfect.

'Get perfectly groomed eyebrows in one easy, smooth application. Define, fill and fix your brows all day with a tint of colour'

If you are a brow lover like me i would 100% recommend you to give this a try, and priced at only £3.99 what have you go to loose. You can purchase this here (link).

What do you guys think? What are you favourite brow products?

September Beauty Wishlist

I cannot explain how happy i am that it is now September, my favourite month. This year is flying by, it will be 2015 before we know it. Before i start saving for the gift giving months here are a few items that have made it onto my beauty wishlist for September.

These past few weeks i have grown a huge love for Mac Paint Pots. I just cannot get enough. They look great, stay all day and really help to stop eye shadows from creasing. I have been contemplating the shades Bare Study & Vintage Selection, but for now, Bare Study is the winner.

I have been a huge lover of Lush's Mask of Magnanimity for a while now but i just dont think it is working the same as it used too. I think my skin is getting a little too used to it now so its time to shake things up. I have been having a few skin issues recently, thank you mother nature, and cupcake has really positive reviews for saving skin in its hour of need. I am heading into town tomorrow so i will 100% be swinging by lush.

I smelt this whilst shopping with the bestie a few weeks ago and it has been on my mind ever since. The smell is divine, and it lasted a long time on my skin. I feel i can never smell perfume on myself after an hour or so off wear but with this i could smell it for the entire day. My nickname from my family is actually lee lee (for reference i have no idea why?) so i feel this perfume name is very fitting for me.

Staying on the topic of perfume, i have had my eye on this little beauty for a while now. I am a huge fan of Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb so i just had to smell this, and i am so glad i did. The smell is gorgeous, a real winter scent for me. And how can i say no with packaging so cute?

5. Mac Velvet Teddy £15.50
This lipstick has exploded onto the scene lately due to the Kylie Jenner makeup craze. I have saw this lipstick on several blog's lately and i need to try this, especially with the cooler months on the horizon. I can see this teamed with a grunge smokey eye and a little winged eye liner. Is it bad i am really excited?

I have had my eyes on these hand creams for a while now and i have no idea why i haven't purchased already. Being a student Nurse and having 'must wash hands' drummed into your head, can leave your hands feeling very dry and neglected. I have tried so many different hand creams and sadly very few have really gave me the moisture i longed for. I will hopefully be picking one of these up in the new few days, and i hear it comes in a shea butter scent aswell which is always a plus.

What items are on your beauty wishlist for September?

Back To School Tips & Tricks

Its that time of year again!! Back To School!

I truly love this time of year. September makes me so happy, i see it as a fresh start, almost like a new year. The new stationary, the socialising with peers & coffee study dates are like little slices of happiness for me. I always feel so inspired to learn and discover new things around this time of year; and the lead up to bonfire night and the christmas season makes me a little giddy.

I am a huge organisation freak. I get so much enjoyment out of rearranging & organising my room, colour coding my planner and adding labels to all my school supplies. It is not uncommon for me to buy 5-6 packets of post it notes every time back to school rolls around, i just cannot help myself. Until i reached university i have never really been a a person that could be considered academic, but with organisation, love for my career and university on my side, i love being in education. I now always feel so inspired and motivated to do well in my studies so today i thought i would share with you some tips & tricks that may help you during the back to school season.

#1 Eat breakfast! I cannot stress how important this is. Eating a nice healthy breakfast fuels your body for the day, raises your energy & helps keeps you focused. Lectures can be long & tiring so having something to eat in the morning will really help to keep your mind on the subject and mind off your stomach.

#2 Take highlighters and coloured pens into your classes. I am a big visual person and i often find staring at plain notes rather dull, and can find my mind wondering to the walls rather than the pages of my textbook. Recently i have been taking my notes with alot more colour and highlighting important information as i go along. I find it keeps my mind focused alot more easily, and as a bonus, revision notes are ready for whenever i may need them.

#3 Get up earlier. This is a tip i will be using this week. During the run up to my first day i set my alarm to my usual wake up time for uni days. I know it seems really cruel to drag yourself out the bed hours earlier than need be, but when it comes to waking up for school you will be alot more alert & your body clock will be set in stone.

#4 Pack your bag and lay your clothes out the night before. I am very guilty of not utilising this tip as much as i probably should in order to get an extra ten minutes in bed. I find this really helps speed up the getting ready process and saves the stress of finding your shoes that match your top as your leaving to go catch your train.

#5 Get a planner. During the academic year i live for my planner, it helps me to stay so organised when i am on placements, planning my assignments and keeping track of tests and lectures.

What's your best back to school tip? Are you studying this year?

Motivational Monday's

It's just another manic Monday ♪♫♬

Today's image reminds me of something my mum once said to me 'never give up on what you want to do in life'. I have a habit of putting too much pressure on myself and always wanting to exceed average in everyday i do. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. I knew nursing was for me, i cant see myself doing anything else but being a full time student nurse, working part time, being a girlfriend, a best friend, blogging and errands; my life can get pretty hectic; there has been several time's i have sat and cried because the pressure was just too much.

During my time off in the summer i have had a little more time to myself, allowing me to rekindle myself and relax. I think alot of us place to much pressure on ourselves; there is nothing wrong with striving to be the best you that you can be, but in small increments. Somebody can ask me to do something i am not sure about and i often find my self saying 'yes, of course', and before you know it the list of items on your agenda is piled high and pressure is increasing. Learn to fight the urge to please everyone. Sometimes, you have to put yourself first.

On another note i cannot believe it is September 2014 already. School holidays are ending, the university halls of residence are beginning to come to life again and those books are getting a good dusting before they see the light of the lecture theatre once again. I love this time of the year, i always feel so motivated and driven to learn and expand my horizons. Plus i get a little giddy at all the new stationary gracing the shelves in Paper Chase & WHSmith. I have been following a lot of uni newbies on instagram this month and i am so happy for them, i wish everyone starting university the best of luck.

I have been very busy this past week; there's been alot of socialising with old college friends and having a real old catch up. I really loved seeing everyone and how much things have changed in two years. Although, this made me reminisce on how many things have changed and how much time has passed in such a small space of time. Driving home i gave myself a fright when i instantly got flashbacks and thought 'oh dear, i am a grown up'.

August Beauty Favourites

I am finding it kind of crazy summer time is over already. I am all geared up and ready to break into the the autumn/winter months. I love nothing more than the noise of stepping on crispy leaves and the smell of bonfires on late nights. I have been super busy during this month, and due to this my makeup bag has been a little neglected from an organisation stand point. It is bulging at the seams with products so i feel very prepared to discuss my favourites from the month.

My first favourite is Limecrime's Lipstick in Poisonberry. This is my ideal autumn/winter shade. It is a very deep purple berry shade that really makes a statement on the lips; this lipstick has great lasting power of about 5-6 hours without touch up's, and fades to a lovely even stain. I know that when i apply this i am pretty much good to go for the rest of the day. I picked this up at IMATS London 2014 for about £10 but you can purchase this lipstick here. I have also been loving YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in shade 29, it is such a natural everyday colour that i feel would suit any skin tone. The texture of this lipstick is incredibly creamy, moisturising & comfortable to wear on the lips, it could be very easy for me to gain an obsession with these. You can purchase this lipstick here.

During our skincare routines we tend to pay special attention to our skin and around the delicate skin of our eyes, but we often neglect our lips. During this month, prior to applying lipstick i have been using the Lush lip scrub in Bubblegum. I do not know how i ever lived without this product. It leaves the lips feeling so soft and plump, i use this every morning as a prep for lipstick and i really have seen a difference in the longevity in my lipstick. They also fade to an even shade and lip balm moisturises the lips alot more thoroughly when using this. A staple in my skin care routine. You can get this lip scrub here.

Also on the topic of skincare, this month i have been a little addicted to NARS Eye Makeup Remover. I am a true mascara lover and tend to wear several coats on a daily basis so removing it can sometimes be a nightmare; but i have found this eye makeup remover a godsend. I hold a cotton pad soaked with the solution on my eye for about 20-30 seconds and all eye makeup is removed in one swipe. Check this eye makeup remover out here

I am a true makeup brush addict, and have a long lasting relationship with the real techniques buffing brush. It blends in foundation so nicely and leaves skin with a real airbrush finish. However, i have been a traitor and fell in love with my XCSource Flat Top Kabuki this month. It buffs foundation in so quickly, helps to cover every imperfection and  leaves skin with an almost porcelain appearance. I am truly in love. You can purchase this brush as part of a set here.

This month i have been more than in love with Mac paint pots. I have been using these religiously since i purchased these, i do not know how i once lived without them. They blend effortlessly, do not crease, help to enhance and prolong wear of shadows and just look flawless. I have the shades, soft ochre, lets skate and tailor grey. I would recommend anyone who loves makeup to try these, i can see this love becoming a financial issue very soon. You can pick Mac paint pots up here

What are your beauty favourites of the month? Have you tried anything new recently?

My Teeth Whitening Experience: Crest 3D Advanced Whitening Strips

My teeth have never been my favourite feature. They are not as straight as i would like them and were a feature i was always looking to improve; i think having real pearly whites looks beautiful. I had tried endless whitening toothpastes, whitening strips, bleaching agents, you name it i have tried it; even though my teeth were not exactly yellow, i wasn't close to the Simon Cowell whiteness i was wanting to achieve. During a very late night on line shopping session i came across the Crest 3D Advanced Whitening Strips with Advanced Seal. I had heard alot of positive reviews surrounding these strips so i threw caution to the wind and purchased. And thank the lord i did.

I purchased twenty strips on eBay for £20.00, Crest says to use one strip for 30 minutes daily for ten days. However, i am really impatient so i did a strip in the morning for 30 minutes and a strip at night for 30 minutes for a total of five days. I have to say i have quite sensitive teeth at times and can sometimes find other whitening strips a little harsh and painful. However, these strips were 100% painless for me and i saw results after day one.

I am so impressed with these strips. They adhere amazingly to the teeth and are really comfortable to wear, Crest says you can drink water whilst wearing these strips; i did try this and the strips did not budge at all. Since using these strips i have had so many compliments on the whiteness of my teeth and questions on why they are so white. I would 100% recommend the Crest 3D Advanced Whitening Strips to anyone who wants to give their teeth a boost of whiteness with an at home treatment.

I purchased my Strips here (link)
I purchased these very late Thursday night and i received them Saturday morning, & with free postage. Impressive.

What do you guys think? Have you tried the Crest Whitening Strips?
